…a Kentucky girl who thrives on personal influences as well as a flight attendant that now reflects, history, derby days, architecture, landscapes, hats/costumes, decorative party plates & objects of treasured trinkets in my creations. These themes tend to sum up where my passions lie; the works are portrayed in ceramics, porcelain, mixed media and paintings.
My realism often tells stories through these mediums that point to symbolic generational works especially seen in the mixed media group. These are inspired from my blind father. My focus in art school was centered on building up textured paintings that the vision impaired could feel or learn to build themselves. The colorful tile mosaics are influences from worldly travel. I often add personal items including broken plates, cups and pots from those places.
The teacup collection is about women coming together in parts of the world to share ideas, secrets and recipes over the bond of tea. I like to paint a favorite grandmother or other person’s tea cup for memorials.
My hope is that some of these images will inspire a memory or new discovery for you to behold as well.
